VENUE FOR SHARING ADDITIONAL WWII STORIES In 2000 the United States Congress created the Veterans History Project. This massive effort, managed by the Library of Congress, aims to collect stories from those who supported wartime service in all of our nation’s conflicts, even up to current day. As part of our local story collection effort, KACV submitted several Texas Panhandle residents’ stories to this project. Please visit http://www.loc.gov/vets for story sharing guidelines and more information. KACV is most grateful to its many partners and supporters of this project, intended to collect, preserve and educate about what Texas Panhandle residents experienced during WWII. Inspired by the Ken Burns production, The War, KACV and its 30 story collection partners collected 300 local interviews. These resulted in 1,000 interview segments which were shared online; many of those were then shared on the air, in the School Curriculum Guide, Traveling Trunk Program and Traveling Exhibit Panels. Please visit the School Curriculum Guide link mentioned above for credits and further information about the project. |
